Digging around Las Vegas

I just had a short vacation in Vegas. We stayed on the outskirts of Las Vegas (Henderson). As I would drive around I noticed how the ground looks like the Moon surface. I SURE HOPE YOU GUYS AOUT THERE ARE MAKING A GOOD BUCK DIGGING, That ground looks harder than Chinese arithmetic!
