Installer or Technician?

Personally, I've always thought that the title of technician implied more knowledge and specialization of your trade than just the title of installer. However, I was perusing ads using various terms such as satellite, cable, technician, installer, etc. and have found that the word technician turned up such jobs as "nail technician", "hair technician" "carpet cleaning technician", etc. So now I'm kinda turned off from the title of technician now.
