already spoke to paul and he said he has C-cleaner and NORTON
there is a lot of his problem
recommended that he get rid of Norton and swap out for Avast
add Ad-Aware and maybe a firewall like Comodo
I can tell ya right now after he does those installs and removes Norton with the C-cleaner he'll be running a lot faster...I see it all the time
Another possibility is that he's missing some of the files for the modem/ incomplete software install- sometimes caused by- Norton or viruses and the like
