Does this make sense?

I have never installed in my life let me make that clear. I was thrown for a loop the other day....a few of the retailers that I spoke with give a percent of the custom fees to the tech. Does this make sense? I mean the tech pays for gas, does all of the work and then gets a percent? How's does that happen? Isn't the commission and residual enough for the retailer? Is this a common practice? I mean I'm all for what's fair...this I am having a hard time understanding why the retailer should be entitled to this.
