In the strictest interpretation of NEC code, the elevation slot is unacceptable to ground to. The code specifies the "mast" must be grounded so one could argue that the mounting bracket is where the ground must be attached. Also, I've noticed on newer 1000.2 dishes, that the long bolt through the bottom of the mast has a blue hue to it. Looks to me like its been treated against galvanic corrosion. I usually just take a ground lug and slide it on that bolt and run one of the extra nuts included with the 1000.2 bolt pack onto it to hold it firm. Makes a great mechanical connection.
