You have done a good job to make it fair!
For a guy with no bucks,,,,,,,,a company truck can be a good step to getting on his feet. Since there is no investment the wages offered are his only issue.
As a small business owner I found leased vehicles were a great deal IF you had paying work for them every day ....consider 365 days; keep someone in them making money.
The next best was old, used vehicles. You could put money into them to get them dependable and expense the money the same year.
The least cool deal was buying new vehicles and paying on a note each month. The vehicle value drops almost vertically but you are financing something that is being destroyed a little each day.
Into this mix you have to consider appearance (Think Sanford & Son) and dependability (Think OT paid while the crew flags cars until towed)
It ain't easy
