Check with your local phone companies, some FTTH are looking for your experience. Also look into the wind mill industry-they are looking for maintenance tech's, the also use fiber to monitor the turbines.
Good luck where ever you land- the cable industry will never give you a pat on the back for the years of dedicated service you provided.
Your always read about the MSO's but never anything about the men that make it work in the field.
