This story is a common children's tale that dates back to before slavery and America. It is a part of the "Anansi the Spiderman" stories which is widely known in the West Indies and Africa today.
What hits home to me is that on my Island we say Brooh and they say Booh. Slightly different dialect. The Gullah are the purest form of the African in America. Most other African Descendants in the Western world do not have pure African blood like the Gullah.
