Yes, Jimi Hendrix DID do it origally, back in 1967. I was fortunate enough to see him at Cobo Hall in Detroit, before he passed. SRV's rendition is a true tribute to Hendrix; if fact, SRV is a BETTER guitarist than Jimi was. Tragic that both are gone so young......
