Maybe you can convince them to go with a headend and install some kind of Pay-Per-Access thing where the customer has to put in a couple of quarters (or Japanese equivalent) to watch content for a set period of time on that machine. Prepaid cards can be used and charged up on a regular basis to aid in the process. That would turn it into a revenue producer and perhaps they might be willing to pony up for a good rack then if they can make money on it.
