I believe they do this to assume the warranty on your work. If you screw up and then don't own up to it afterwards, then DTV would be on the HSP to get it corrected. They end up paying out of their own pocket to fix this.



Have you considered charging more to cover the HSP cut? If you charge $90 for something and the HSP wants 10%, then just charge $100. You'll still get $90 afterwards. At least this way, they have to assume the warranty. As far as the customer is concerned, they cut the check to the HSP, not you, so the HSP has the ultimate obligation to that sub. Just make sure that the HSP accepts the responsibility of warranting the custom work.
