Sounds to me like noise or snr raising up to 13/14 is knocking them off, that'll certainly do it. You have to be able to "see" your entire return spectrum to work on it. Return snr can and will go from 28 to 10 in a minute and you wont be able to fix it without equipment that can veiw it. The contractor may have left with good levels but they can and will change in an instant, the instant he leaves is usually how this works, lol. Anyway thats my guess as to why they're droping out. There are ways to track it down by shutting down the return legs but you really need to be able to "see' the return spectrum and track that problem down. We use a spectrum analizer in the headend plus the wavetec stealth return sweep in the field. Most modems will go offline at around -15. Place filters on all drops not taking inter net this may help alot because your whole problem could be one drop introducing bad noise into the system. Good luck and welcome to two way, your plant just doubled, did your pay?
