Re: PIC's of Corregidor

Yep, I can relate to that.

I have a good friend (lived in Subic Bay, PI) who was Pacific Rim support for Antec many years ago. He told me that an old man praised him because he was an American. He told him of his memories of the beaches littered with the bodies of American troops for as far as the eye could see. This old man said that he will ALWAYS be grateful to America for driving the Japanese out of the PI. But he also added that many of todays generation has forgotten their history and has no interest or cares about what happened back in the 1940's.

I was living/working in the UK back in 1995 when they had the 50th Anniversary of the end of WWII. WHAT A PARTY!!! There were veterans from as far back as WWI in the parades. These guys had medals from their shoulders to their waists! Was better than any parade or event I have seen here in the USA. Thank God I video taped the festivities in York, UK. The BIG celebration was in London though. Better than any CNN coverage!!!
