it's a big dish!
and location is everything!
you must have a clean line of site of the SE sky
sounds like you are just trying to get out of paying for the pole
if you try to do it yourself you will only wast time and effort
listen to the tech and let him do his job
if you want to save some money then while he is digging the hole for the pole you can dig the trench for the line and get 2" conduit for the 4 lines that must come from the dish
you can also move the tv's and other equipment out of the way so your tech has access to the rear of the tv's AND wherever the outlets will or are to be located......remember that if you are getting ANY DVR you WILL need a NEW outlet that is set for 2 lines not one
don't forget that what you are asking for IS a NON STANDARD install - not free- at an additional cost to the customer.....costs that may be involved: pole mount / trenching + conduit/ cost of ground rod and ground line if over 20ft from dish/ possibly a multi-switch /attic crawl/ crawl under house/ wall fish/ wall plates ...ect he has to pay for EVERYTHING all parts except the dish!
