Re: Need Advice On Sweep/Also Sweep Points

As far as reflection, I know that with G.I. , or Motorola usually you won't see the reflection if you look at the fwd. sweep on the input test point of the amp/le. But if you want to be 100%, terminate the legs 1 at a time until your sweep cleans up. A little trick to save time in labor and taking down plant. Build a jig from an amp or le housing like this. Pin to F conn. on input and term. output(s). Pull mod from the system amp and place it in your jig. Then run RG-6 jumper from butt plug on said amp/le to input pin to F on input of jig. then check fwd. sweep on output of mod. in jig. As far as seisure screw probes Gilbert makes a good spring loaded probe. Be careful though, sometimes the level is to high to get a true reading. Try putting a 10db line pad on probe sweep will look much better. But don't forget your voltage blocker. Also the best way to sweep is with a node reference. Sometimes going tap to tap is the best way to go, rereferencing as needed to spot damaged cable etc. good luck.
