well pump problems

Anyone got ideas on how to fix my problem without calling the well guy?

My well and pump is 21 years old. The pump is working fine, a little rusty but works great. I have been getting a lot of air the last month, and well, today the pump lost its prime. Called a well guy, and he stated I would need to Change pump to a 240ac and put jets on the inside of the 2" casing and change the holding tank all for $1250. I do not know anything about wells other than this one has been great all these years and was wondering if there is something I could do to save money. The well guy said I could try and extend the 2 pipes inside the casing but I could not go past the casing and if I done that it would probably work for a while but would not solve the problem. I am a little old but I can do any of the labor in order to save money. Do any of you guys know of a way to save money on the resolution of this dilemma?
You must BE the change you wish to see in the world
