John.G most cat5 is only 4 pair, there is no slate pair. I just wanted to stir this pot a little more, please dont take offence. And whoever it was that said it was Grey......WRONG, its Slate always has been, Whoever said it was purple.....WRONG (as unmanly as it is) its Violet. Hope this helps later, Red
