It can be made to run off of the home power. It can be installed inside the home like a cable modem with a very small battery back up that will last 8 hours in case of an outage. They are using such things now for telephony modems in Alaska. So powering issues are resolved. they were using the outside plant for power but the amount of power supplies and the battery back ups were staggering in cost. Each battery was 2500 bucks. computer,voltage and heat controlled Avestors. We all know what happened to Avestor and some of their batteries.
