Re: damage claim notification

As a tech, your liability for property damage SHOULD be none if the homeowner signed off on your paperwork as "Satisfied".

Tip for all techs regaurdless if you are installing CATV or Dish:

Hand write in block form:

TECH ARRIVED ON-TIME
NO PROPERTY DAMAGE
CUSTOMER SATISFIED

X____________________________

...and have them sign it. No initials ....... signature.

As a field manager, I've gone back just hours after a tech left an install and had those 3 lines with the customers signature END all conversations and claims. Customers have a tough time answering the simple question of "How can you claim property damage after the tech left when you signed right here saying he did NO damage?"

Shuts them down each time. Those that have tried to take it to court have had the cases dismissed before the courtdate ever comes up due to the customer signing a hand written note. They can't even claim that they didn't know what they were signing because "...it was buried in the small print" due to it being in big block letters by hand.

6-weeks is BS .... don't pay a dime.
