I believe what you are stating has some truth. That being said, a lot of people are starting to see this pattern. Wealthy, Famous people are not going to get away with murder as much as they used to.
Take Paris Hilton for example, she has the resources to fight till the end of time, still, she went to jail, and for a longer period of time than others do in her situation. Now Lindsay Lohan and Nichole Ritchie are facing some serious time, and I'll bet you they will do it.
Society is starting to see the errors of our ways. Turning to look away from those who commit crimes in the media, is creating a lot of controversy and changing our society as a whole.
Our children do look up to these athletes, and actors, they want to be just like them. Setting these offenders free just puts out a message that it is ok to drink and drive, throw inappropriate tantrums to get your way, and so many other crimes I wont list them.
Soon (and probably already), we have a majority of incorrigible children running the streets and endangering the publics safety. Rap music has been under severe scrutiny fallowing the Don Imus incident. Don Imus was fired!
I believe the powers that be are trying to make examples of these people for the first time ever, out of necessity. They have to because of the declining moral values of the younger generation.
These kids will be in charge of our world when they are older and we will have a huge mess that can't be fixed because no one was taught that what they are doing and thinking is wrong.
This behavior will soon become status quo if we do not start severely punishing offenders and making a big deal out of it. I hope it will put the fear of GOD back into society. At best case scenario, and done this way, it could.
