Re: Bush criminalizes anti war movement

Ok, Im asking a question. Surely the President of the United States wouldnt impose executive orders that circumvented the Constitution. Would He? He didnt get rid of Habeous Corpis Did he. Thats why a Republican, Arlen Specter is trying to get it restored. As far as this order goes, I guess it comes down to the word "Violence". Here's a quote from the order itself, not a "liberal interpetation" as you say....

<<<My new order takes additional steps with respect to the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13303 and expanded in Executive Order 13315 by blocking the property and interests in property of persons determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense, to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of threatening the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq or undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people.>>>>

"determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense, to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing,....>>>>

a significant risk of committing? This could mean anyone. Cindy Shehan, sitting on a powder keg of emotion from losing her son for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, certainly could qualify as a significant risk of committing a violent act. Hell everday I fantasize about what I would do if I could get close to these war criminals. Is that a significant risk? Not in my mind because I would never commit a violent act. However this broad wording could certainly apply to me, my property ripped off at the discretion of the Sec of Defense and Treasury. What if I was banging one of their wives. Bet I would be a significant risk for violence since my Constitutional rights have been nullified.

As far as your use of the word Liberal. I really don't consider myself a total Liberal, I believe the 2nd amendment should be protected as well. Thats certainly not liberal. But if being Liberal is to protect my rights under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights then Im a Liberal.
