Heres the thing about our mta's, comcast calls them "emta's" because of their built in hybridity (i think i made up that last word). youll notice that if before you activate one or more of the telephony ports on the mta, you can pull a valid ip address on a computer. cox does not provision two ip addresses on the mta only because they make soooo much money on selling a modem AND leasing an mta at the same time. and that would make an installers job to easy to only get one modem within specs.
