Actually, MSOs could provide contractors with free cable legally. The same way DTV gives their retailers free equipment and programming for their stores.
MSOs could do this but it will cost them money, so they don't. It will cost them money because in their eyes giving a person free cable that could be a paying customer is a loss . Employment laws would not apply. The free programming could just be made part of the compensation package.
MSO's value their programming. Alot. Thats why they only give their employees free programming. If many of us valued our good & services as much as MSO's value theirs, things would probably be different in this business for techs.
