Not really. The giving of benefits is an indicator of an employer/employee relationship as opposed to a subcontractor/client one. If your cable company gave benefits such as free cable to contractors, it could be construed by the IRS that the shop you work for is actually an employee and not a contractor.
However, you ought to push your shop to buy cable for all of you technicians.
