ok this is the part where i really am just "put this in that hole" when i was doing catv installs a backwards splitter was death to picture quality and almost every modem, but when i'm doing dish it is a frequent trick to run a signal through a 2 way splitter backwards, i have noticed that ingress becomes a problem when doing this and that to do this successfully you must be careful on the backfeed channel selected. my original guess was that backfeeding through a splitter simply adds the signal loss of the various ports, but i'm not entirely sure i have that right. any of you that knows care to explain this one to a dumb installer?
