That's not what they are looking for. They need to know how much SIGNAL is reaching your modem and also how much is transmitting out of your modem. The download signal level (NOT SPEED) should be between -10 and +5 (depending on cable system) and your transmit should be between 40 and 50. Speakeasy doesn't tell you this, they don't have access to that data. To find out, you have to go to 192.168.100.1, but you probably have a Terayon anyway.
Speakeasy and those sites are just for gasbags who have nothing better to do than whine when their 3 meg service is hovering around 2.9. You don't need a speed test to tell you your internet is running slow. Hell, MSN taking 9 seconds to load ought to tell you that.
Furthermore, its probably not your techs that are dickin you around. None of them want a go-back work order because it just costs them time and money. More than likely, your cable system plant probably has some upside-down levels or you happen to be one of those unlucky customers who has a 26 value 8 way tap 200 feet away that's only kicking +2 on the receive frequency. That probably won't mean anything to you, but I'm sure more than a few drop techs are cringing at that thought.
