Re: Slow Connection Speeds

Charter inhouse....-12 - +12RX, 35 - 50TX, 34< MER/SNR, CMTS RX SNR >25, CMTS RX +1 - -1. If you have levels at these specs and the CMTS/UBR is not overloaded it will work fine. The main problems with speed is usually overloaded ports at the UBR/Router. Most have x number of cards and each card can have multiple ports combining multiple nodes. If you have a friend in the same system on a card/port that is not on a overloaded card, port, or node then they can have different or better speeds. Then again it can be as easy as the modem/your router, noise at your particular amp/tap/node. We are currently in the process of splitting nodes up to additional cards to fix a problem of being overloaded on some ports and cards. We have the bandwidth just not the means of routing the load accordingly. The hardware is a bottleneck and the transport/backbone is at 60%. The hardware is at 200% load! Maybe more. This is also a known problem for 2 years now.
