The problem with your theory is latency. A day trader would get his assets kicked if he was trading over a sat internet connection instead of a cable one.
Cable is about to make a big play here soon when DOCSIS 3.0 comes out. When that happens, the words "dial-up speed" and "sat internet speed" will be used interchangeably when contrasting the alternatives to cablemodem.
That pesky analog band is what is kicking cable's butt right now. They really need a D/A converter that can be installed at demarcs so the entire analog band can be shipped down the plant digitally over 7-10 channels and just converted back at the demarc for those customers like Grandma Wilson who don't want digi.
