Because of the poor picture quality of cable, due primarily to digital's poor image compression, I have always considered the difference between cable and satelite as thus:
If you know how to and can service your own dish you're better off with their service because quality and price are superior. But if you have to rely on dish service you are better off with cable. Not that cable's service is any better, but because it generally goes down less and one does not have to pay to get it back online.
