In addition to this, I think it would also be important that the technicians cross-train to be knowledgeable at installing cable, DirecTV, Dish, phone, and other product lines. That way, if cable cuts the price of work down, the co-op could look into pursuing other contracts with the other platform providers. It makes a big difference in negotiating contracts if you can tell your current client to go f themselves, we're hanging dishes instead. If your co-op is that good, they probably wouldn't want to lose you over a few chips, especially if the other houses are really crappy. Some systems have severah contractor houses, I would just tell the platform provider to cut their pay more instead of doing an equal cut across all contractors.
