All be damned if that doesn't sound like some sound advice. Finally broke down and bought my first pair of Hoffman 30 belows, last winter, after 25 years of getting by with Wesco's, (lucky enough to stay in half way warm climate, because Wesco's are not cold climate boots!) Anyway, your right, ankles sag and irritate the ankle area. Great boot to climb with, as far as support, but it seems you need to keep moving to actually keep feet warm in single digits. Up in the bucket, or standing in snow, the old dogs still get cold, but at least dry. Hell of a lot cheaper than Wesco's. Tried the Carolina's, but support just not there if your climbing all day. O.K. for a couple sticks here and there though. Still swear by Wesco's, for warm weather, and I even found an Oriental man who re-builds them for 85.00, BETTER than Wesco does for 150.00. Never tried Redwings. What do they run? Do they have steel shank, or fiberglass?
