I see what you mean. I guess it is all in how it is wrapped. My experience has been promises that are vague enough to confuse. I have a similat deal where I am paid x on the job site and they pay me less than x to drive there.
It all arrives as one number on the 1099. I don't see a benefit to having a wage relationship and a contractor deal.........perhaps the "allowance" covers non work costs like lodging or truck costs?
