I agree 100% with the 1st part. But the second part kind of leaves a nasty taste in the mouth... It's been my experience you can manage or you can't, regardless of the experience or background. It does help to have field experience but a good manager can jump from Home Depot to Time Warner to ABC Contracting to McDonalds and back again and have a good record doing them all, where the best cableman out there may - more than likely will - fall flat on his butt. The best you can wish for is a good cable guy who happened to be a great manager all along and just never tried it. But if someone is granting wishes, save it for the lotto!!
