There is a way around this. I formed a LLC, when I run across a non-compete clause in a contract, the LLC does the work (it is a seperate entity by law), if I choose to go to another contract "I" do the work, not the LLC.
Forming a LLC is simple and pretty cheap (about $100).
The clause usually stipulates a period of time (30 to 90 days) and then you can revert back to working under the LLC.
