Your right my friend about a lot, but prices going up? Not until EVERYONE in this biz sticks together and boycots the cable co's. That goes for the companies, the employees, and the subs. Contractors do at the very least 25-50% of the work. Just stop and think what would happen to the cable co's IF you stopped!
Work orders backlogged, trouble calls backlogged -AND- most importantly NEW INSTALLS BACKLOGGED!!!!!!!!!
Until the cable co's get smacked right in the chops and can't install new business/customers, you might as well dream of snow in hell. Do you know WHY this is critical to them???
BECAUSE IT'S ALL ABOUT NET GAIN, NEW CUSTOMERS, NEW REVENUE. IF THEY CAN'T GROW, THEY CAN'T MAINTAIN. AND THE ONLY WAY THEY GROW IS TO ADD NEW CUSTOMERS AND NEW SERVICES.......THE SAME ONES YOU INSTALL FOR THEM. DO YOU REALLY THINK AN INHOUSE TECH CAN INSTALL A TRIPLE PLAY CUSTOMER IN THE SAME TIME AS YOU CAN? YOU DO 3 A DAY, THEY'D DO 1. IT'S ALL ABOUT NEW GROWTH AND THEY'D HAVE NONE IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!
But the problem is most people out there WON'T belly up to the bar and STOP working. They'll come back, they have to. Contractors do BETTER work than inhouse cable guys and FOR LESS MONEY. There's no way the installation department can go to management and say they need more inhouse techs at higher rates (not to mention benefits, vehicles, gas, etc.). They'd all be fired.
Time to walk the walk folks. Are you ready? Can you belly up to the bar?
How about a national walkout day, or week, or month??? Again there's no way they could survive. They'd come back.....
