I agree birdog is a crutch....But it makes walking a whole lot easier 3-5 Birdogs give different readings..get a feel for yours and life is good.
If my birdog says 99% and when I tone the line voltage is good.
Signal inside is never lower than 90%.
If my Birdog is 90% and voltage is good. Then signal may be 75-80 before the check switch and 85-88% after.
Its just like any meter its takes time to get good with it. when I peak a dish my Birdog is only on for approx.10-seconds Max...
As long as mast is Plum pre-sets are where I want em I find the sat @0%and cut off the meter and lock it down. I double check all 3 and roll inside. I always have my trusty SAT BUDDY in my bag just incase. That lil baby gave me my Name KA-KU MASTER..thats all i ever used on em.You either get good with it or you roll over to COMCAST..ha,ha, My wife is my tag team partner. AS far as 2-way radios..DirecTV maybe...DISH thats a NO,NO your more likely to lock wrong SAT..too long of hesitation on signal meter screen before it goes green..2-way radios are for Customers who Installs their own dish..
