Signal levels have to be closely matched. When I do a setup like this, I try to keep the two channels nearly adjacent but with at least two empty channels in between such as ch24 and 27. If you do this, it is a good idea to keep a frequency chart with you so that you don't end up using two channels that are a hundred megahertz apart. You can also change the output channels depending on how far the receivers are from the splitter. The receiver that is closest will have the highest frequency channel. This means that you should have attenuation loss charts as well. If you're good about it, you can pick the perfect two channels to get just about the same db level at the splitter.
