Some birdogs can't handle the load requirements of the DP+ LNB, it takes more milliamps than the Birdog can supply, and so the Birdog interprets this as a short.
Newer birdogs don't have this problem, in fact mine can do DPPs all day long. P10 does advise that you not work excessively long on the DPP with the birdog because it will drain the battery faster with the increased current draw.
Another thing with the 1000 is that I point using the dp dual in the 129 slot since Echostar is using that crippled Echostar V satellite there and the signals are pretty weak.
