Sorry Red, no advice fro me. I am just an old telco lineman, and copper fiber splicer. Just wanted to post this link for the curious.
http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6397034.html Verizon posts all jobs on their website, most tech jobs pay over $26 an hour, and includes company provided truck/tools, gas, and material. not to mention being home every night.
