It took me about 10 minutes to learn how to splice ooax cable.
But about 5 years before I could hold my own. I still wasn't that fast conpared to some of the real pros I worked with. And when you've working on active plant, you'd better be good. Your buddy's got a lot of balls giving you a shot on his name.
If you want to step up, you're better off going to glass, there's still a ton of that to be put up, but coax is a shrinking specialty.
Try it for the winter, (I loved it) but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't expect it to last. There are THOUSANDS of very experienced splicers who walked away from the industry. They know something.
