First of all, adjusters/claim representatives are not allowed to deny a legitimate claim. The insurance companies do not want the crap that comes with that from the state. Second, calling an attorney is what they would rather have happen if you're giving them hell on the phone everyday. If you hire an attorney, they are no longer allowed by law to speak directly with you. Therefore, you can no longer bug them. AND, the insurance company does not pay for your attorney, you do. So, you're actually losing money on that one. Finally, if your adjuster is giving you a hard time, ask for his/her supervisor who is usually better trained in customer service and can better explain things to you and perhaps can get something more done for you.

If you still can't get satisfaction, a call or letter to the state insurance commissioner is your best bet.
