Wel dude, I live in NY and in Northern Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess counties and Connecticutt (especially Danbury) I run into it quite often. I say this "Perdóneme, perro yo soy un Gringo. No hable espanol. Donde usted desea su cable.
At this point they laugh and point the way. I get done. They sign . I get paid. Wether they are legal immigrants or not is besides the matter. Bottom line is they at that moment in time are paying subs and if you do disrespect a sub and they call the mso and will get a spanish speaking csr, your sheet will be over poste haste.
My suggestion is you go and learn enough spanish to get you through your day w/o downing jobs so you can earn a living. In years to come it won't matter where you install from Boise Idaho, to Attumwa Iowa, To good ole New Yawk, Spanish is this countries 2nd language. You see me coming with my jarhead crewcut I look as white as white gets. It's all about adapting and overcoming.
