is the intent here to get dvr capabilities out of the vcr or directv box? if so just buy a tivo. it can control the directv box thus eliminating the need to use the 622 at all......i'm sure with enough work you could find something to work, but if the cost has to stay under $100 bucks i don't think it's work spending more than 45 minutes to do. a tivo at walmart however runs about $50 if i'm not mistaken, thus you get the dvr for half of what you are willing to spend........if you are trying to get hd dvr i'm not sure if any of this will work except to pony up to directv's hd dvr if they even have one.
