it's a catch-22. my personal view is that if the customer has been ok with the crap install until it failed i just let it go and fix the problem and anything that i think will cause a problem in the near future. it doesn't make me proud, but it's harder to re-install something than to do it right the first time and by the time you factor in material costs you wind up working for free. i'd rather take the chance of not getting paid the 32 for not doing a free install and spending 2 hours doing it than i would spending 2 hours and making 5 bucks. it would be nice if there were some way to get paid for what you actually do, but until that happens i just have to do what is best for me.
