Re: General Liability and Workman's Comp

Sorry stacy2525 but you are wrong in certain states. Some states allow for a company subcontracting work require that the sub either provide their own coverage or if prime agrees, let them use theirs. If your state has a waiver form then that is all you need. If not look a little deeper there is a site that gives workmans comp info about all states. Its smart business to know the laws in each state you work. I know of two states you cannot waive WC and the prime (up to the owner of faulty equipment) is liable under any and all circumstances. Its smart business on their part because they are covering their ass. You can buy a WC cert $500--$1200 bucks but you are not covered as a sole proprietor. In that instance you fall you pay medical bills and lose out on any income while sitting in bed(AFLAC).. It really depends on whether you want to take a chance of being laid up and making your family tote the note for your care. 6% is nothing for WC dont understand what you else you could want. All it takes is a little spyder bite and your down. If you dont have WC during recovery you dont get the chance to get hooked on the good meds cuz you cant afford em. I just think its smart to use their WC and get your own GL to keep them from jerking you around.
