Re: General Liability and Workman's Comp

Workers comp varies with your occupation. Yes, because you climb telephone poles, your rates are higher than a desk worker. Personnaly i wouldn't allow a corp. to indiscriminately toss a figure out to deduct for w/c unless they can show you in writing their contract concerning you and the insurer. It's supposed to be based on a percentage of your earnings as opposed to a flat fee. You might want to check with the government office concerning w/c and ask them what your rate is supposed to be. seems to me it shouldn't vary from one insurer to another as it's the government dictating that you carry it. It's also my understanding that you can't take the policy out on yourself. You need to be doing business as a corp with you listed as an employee of that corp to qualify for w/c. I'm sure there's a couple desk jockies on this board willing to give you the correct break down (maybe not). Beware of the crooks and manipulators of the truth. Plenty of them in this industry. Good luck, Mike M.
