I`ve only ran into one BAD LNB but I would normally do this. I would have a dishsetup in hand with the bird dog hooked up and Check for good signal with a sat. Typically you can tell by the irractic signals you will get from a bad LNB (when there is no line of sight problems). The bad one I ran into was lucky to get around 70% . Tried a new LNB and got 99%. Thats one way to check them.
