DTV's equipment is easier to install, but the free phone lines and the free pole mounts and the free wallfish's(or a limit to the WF charge $30) is bullspit.
Dish's equipment is far more advanced and thus is more challenging. But, I for one enjoy a good challenge. I am making more per install and get to charge as much as the customer will pay for a phone line, pole mount, wallfish, etc. I also get compensated for my diplxors which is sweet.
Look at what DTV is having to do to get local HD in select markets, the KA/KU dish which is a FREE install beyond standard with DTV. Dish now has the dish1000 which is getting the local HD's in select markets and is not a big square dish like dtv's KA/KU. Dish has 25 HD channels and local HD(in select markets) on a Dish1000 which is very close to the DTV triple sat dish.
At least with dish, a installer gets paid extra to do a super dish install, which is similar in size and install as DTV Ka/Ku.
Dish also has a Family Pak for under $20!
