The price is droping. In 1988 we were getting $100 a fiber, but it was a lot tougher then. Now the overall average is around $15. The biggest mistakes I see are improper closure instalation and tray settup. I have opened trays and I swear the fiber will jump out at you like a coil spring. Your settup is the most important thing. In most cases nasty trays will give you antenuations that will cause failure to meet your loss budget. As far as schools go, they have they're value as a brief overall picture. An expensive one. There is no substitute for real world experience. For that you have to start at the bottom and pay your dues. Unless I'm missing something, Fiber is not the business to be getting into right now. There is a lot of equipment for sale cheap, because so many are getting out.
