Dish Network is actually very smart in the way they do their research and development. They make sure that a new model receiver can get signal and convert it to a picture.
Then they briefly test the bells and whistles, i.e. DVR and interactive.
After that they release it nationwide, and they let the installers troubleshoot it out in the field.
Once they get enough calls about any known problem with the units, they fix it with a software upgrade, or they discontinue that model.
Let the installers find the problems, that's what they get paid to do.
